computer-aided assessmenteducation dictionary

<assessment, e-learning> Used to broadly describe the use of computers for the purpose of delivering, marking and reporting of assessments.

One of the original and simplest forms computer-aided assessment was the process of optical marking, where optical readers were used to extract data from the answer papers.

A more modern use is with a computer storing, managing and delivering an assessment, possibly over the Internet. This allows the use of selection style assessment questions that are marked by the computer. Most electronic learning environments will deliver assessments.
