1. <biochemistry> Any disturbance of fat metabolism.

2. A group of conditions due to defective metabolism of fat, resulting in the absence of subcutaneous fat, which may be congenital or acquired and partial or total.

Synonyms: lipoatrophy, lipodystrophia.
