<biochemistry> The central feaure of oxidative metabolism. Cyclic reactions whereby acetyl CoA is oxidized to carbon dioxide providing reducing equivalents (NADH or FADH2) to power the electron transport chain. Also provides intermediates for biosynthetic processes.
